Over the last few months I have been working hard to attract some feathered friends to my yard and garden. First, of course was the bird feeder. Then, in the back yard, I put up a Purple Martin House. I do not have any tenants yet, but this evening two scouts made a couple of passes around the house. I hope this means I will have some Progne subis moving in!

In the front yard I added a hanging bird bath close to the feeder for all of those dirty birds that would like a bath. So far I have Northern Mocking Birds (Mimus polyglottos), Loggerhead Shrike (Lanius ludovicianus), Eurasian collared-Doves (Strptopella decaocto), Mourning Doves (Zenaida macroura), Boat-tailed Grackles (Quiscalus major), Common Grackles (Quiscalus quiscula), Red-winged Blackbirds (Agelaius phoeniceus), and White Ibis (Eudocimus albus) visiting.
