April
10, 2007 -- I
wrote to Whiteline a few days ago
to complain that the strut brace
holders pictured below were
rusting and peeling on my install.
Mr. Wojtek Rogulski
wrote back to say that that was
not right, I unfortunately
received a problem set. The
replacement set arrived today. WHITELINE Automotive
has excellent customer service and
stands behind their products.
Thank you guys! For Quality Parts, Quality
Customer Service and a Quality

March
30, 2007 -- Installed Cobb
Downpipe after wrapping with DEI
Heat Wrap, spraying with DEI HT
Silicone Coating and securing in
place with the DEI stainless steel
tie wraps (paint and wraps were in
stock at my local Advance Auto
Parts (so cool!)) and reprogrammed
the ECU to Cobb AccessPort Stage
II, 93 Octane gas. Turbo lag is
noticeably decreased, top end said
to be 185mph, no doubt. Seat of
pants dyno says "130 fast and
easy!" The pipe itself is a
really good looking piece. I added
the heat wrap down to the second
bend then sprayed it with the DEI
black silicone paint. I'm lovin'
it! Here's a tip tho', be sure to
spay your nuts with WD40 or
Blaster numerous times and let
them soak before trying to remove
them. Anyway, you will be doing
some Scooby wrestling before you
finish the job.

28, 2007 -- Installed PERRIN SWAY BAR
REAR END-LINKS, cranked the BOV closed
and changed the oil (put in the EAGLE
G4R racing engine oil
-- I love the smell of that new
oil. FRESH!).
Closing the BOV seems to cut lag
and hesitation and also eliminates
backfiring on downshifts. So its
performance vs. sound. I want to
see where my gas mileage goes with
the BOV closed.
The
Perrin Rear STI Endlinks make a
difference. They are STIFF man!
Scoob's rear is way tighter now and
cranks around tight corners with a
snap! The passenger side link was a
bitch to put on after the driver's
side went on so easy, but it was
persuaded in to place after an hour's
struggle. It isn't so easy installing
them under a car jacked up about
15" and you on your back on the
driveway. Even with a crawler. Then
the torque wrench is a bitch because
it is a long tool in a short space. So
is my life story, yeah. UPDATE!
Make sure when you install the
endlinks they are up-right!
Otherwise they will get torqued and
bent to hell! Also, the swaybar
needs to be for the STi, not the WRX.
I went back and forth with a number
of e-mails with Jeff Perrin to get
the correct set-up -- Sway Bar

23, 2007 -- The latest new toy for
Scoob is the COBB AccessPort 2.0
which I picked-up from Felipe at VelocityFactor
in Boca Raton. After Felipe
received my order from his web
site he called me to ask if
instead of shipping it to me, I
might want to drive down to see
his place and he'd install it for
me. Even though I work in Lake
Worth, I didn't want to at first
because I usually work from 7:30
to 7:30 and thought I'd never make
it down there, but Felipe said
they'd be there until like 6:30 or
7:30. That worked for me! Felipe
installed the COBB AccessPort 2.0,
showed me some pictures of the
builds his shop had done and took
the time to answer all of my
noobish questions. This guy knows
his stuff and is very
professional! Something else that
impressed me about VelocityFactor
is that when you call them
(561.395.5700), they have a very
professional young lady answer the
phone or maybe even Felipe
himself. And my final impression
was of the two cute young ladies
who were standing outside the shop
when I arrived. I didn't get their
names, but they were very nice. I
highly recommend talking to Felipe
at VelocityFactor,
or actually stopping by and
checking out the shop and garage
if you get the chance.

A
few months back I mentioned the
AMSOIL I put in Scoob. A few weeks
after returning from the AAPEX
Show ('06) I received a very nice
surprise -- 4 gallons of synthetic
motor oil for Scoob, courtesy of
our chemist. Thank you very much Jim,
I really do appreciate it. Read

Synthol and AMERILUBE

JIC "Bullet"
505 full Titanium Cat Back Exhaust
WRX/STI, PN GDA505TI-FM,
the image above is NOT what
you get. What you get is shipped
in 3 pieces and has no resonator
or label/insignia on it as is
shown above. I bought my JIC
"Bullet" from www.mauromotorsports.com
-- Anthony is really helpful and
tells it like it is, no BS,
but GREAT service! Also
e-mailed www.jic-magic.com
a couple of technical questions
and Ben Chen answered back the
same day -- more GREAT service!
I'm on this "service"
thing because I've had 2 occasions
when I tried to buy products
on-line and the service REALLY
SUCKED THE BONE. I tried to buy
this particular cat-back from
Vivid Racing and got nothing but a
run-around from Dan
Mermelstein, "General
Partner". Don't waste your
time
-
Installed
the cat-back Saturday morning
9/10/2005 -- Really easy install,
went in real quick after taking
the OEM exhaust out. PERFECT fit
and finish. Silencer included, it
has a LOUD low rumble without it.
Sounds better without the silencer
than with it (noticeably more
horses too -- gets up to redline
faster than with the stock muffler
or the included silencer in). But,
no silencer makes it hard to hear
the radio, it is that loud. Even
with the windows up. It is
possibly as loud as a big Harley
or an old Nova or 'Cuda. As the
wife said, "Scoob sounds like
a pit-bull now."
-
Listen!
don't you think this muffler
called "Bullet" is
"MOROSHIBU"?
The name is great, isn't it? The
shape and the sound is "SUGGE"
Spartan. Why don't you buy it? Oh!
I'm going to forget to tell you
that the muffler can power up the
car, too.
Huh?
WTH does that mean? See picture below on the
right.
-
HEAR
THE "MOROSHIBU"
'"SUGGE" Spartan' Sound
of the BULLET HERE
-
Also
tightened up the bolts on the
Hotchkiss sway bar (they were not
tight enough "DOH!"
and it sounded like
there was a bowling ball in the
trunk when going over bumps). Also
moved the end-links to the middle
hole from the first hole. Jury is
out regarding the difference in
handling.

dropped and back tires chocked for
the night. 2005

- 02/26/2005
-- Removed "Snorkus" and
installed U-pipe (GP Moto Intake Elbow
) as well as Perrin Air Filter (Air Filters).
Parts from Scoobytuner.com.
Checked torque of all wheel studs.
Attaboy to TK # 81 -- all lug nuts
were tightened to 70lbs torque.
Mounted horn in new position as it
could not go back on the left
strut.

- 4th Mod -- STI Front plate in brushed
aluminum (from Mastowrx.com --
WARNING -- their service leaves
much to be desired. I
will not shop there again or at least
I will not deal with Bill if I can
help it).
- 3rd
Mod -- Scooby Doo floor mats from
Advance Auto in Lake Park.
- 2nd
Mod -- New tires (BFGoodrich
g-Force Sport 225/45R17 from Tire

roof nail in the rear passenger
side tire so had to change out the
OEM Potenza tires.
